Hi, I'm Don, I'm the CEO of Athos and a Marine Veteran. At Athos, we're building the product I wish I had when I was on active duty. When I was a Marine, I took my physical training really seriously, because I knew that a huge part of my job was being physically ready to operate. For me, that training meant, a ton of volume and a ton of intensity. I love to run and I love to lift weights. I didn't think a whole lot about mobility or injury or the impact that this volume and intensity might have in the long run. I kind of thought I was invincible until I blew out a disk in my lower back.

I went from feeling incredibly fit training really hard to completely unable to train and do my job. For a long time, I couldn't put on a ruck without a ton of pain. And I wasn't unique. I had a ton of folks who I served with, some of whom are still in active duty who still suffer from chronic pain or can no longer do the job because of injury.

Since leaving active duty, I've learned how important it is to train for resilience alongside strength and endurance to make sure that your body can handle the stress and intense training. So you can train hard and feel great in the short term and continue to train hard and feel great in the long run as well. And our goal at Athos is to make you more resilient by understanding your body to help you achieve and maintain great movement. Great movement will reduce your risk of injury and improve your performance so you can continue to train really hard and have confidence that you'll be strong, you’ll be fast and you’ll be ready, ready to to operate.
